THE ART OF PLEIN AIR

The term Plein Air is French and means to paint in “open air” so that the artist can experience the effects of natural sunlight on their subject matter. Dean Folsom, Sr. and Hal DeWaltoff are both Cape Cod masters of the art of plein air who use this method of painting to capture fleeting images in nature. With assured, bold and loose brush strokes, vivid colors and impressionistic flair these two artists display a love of their subjects. As painters of their natural world they are both able to communicate the beauty and vitality of their environment. Mr. Folsom, Sr. and Mr. DeWaltoff invite the view to experience the spontaneity of their medium and brushstrokes while sharing the essence of light, color and beauty of our natural world.
